I understand what you say, I enjoy photography for myself, is my hobby after my 9-6 job (which I like, but is a long time being in front of a computer). If I try to make things for the algoritm, is exhausting. I'm using substack as a way of sharing my hobbie and if someone connects, great, if no one see It, ok.
I mean, I don’t create the images I create just to share, but I do enjoy sharing what I have created. But, there are so many things that I have created, and just kept to myself. The point of creating, to me, is to create. Not inherently to share. But, I think that’s a really personal decision/feeling for everyone.
It’s great to see someone focusing on the joy of making rather than just engagement or growth. Recently, it appears that Substack has fallen prey to marketing and growth experts. It's all about the numbers.
I couldn’t agree more. This is the move! Long term, sustainable enjoyment of anything comes from you staying true and enjoying what you are doing. That’s what resonates and cuts through, when you are making something for you. This approach keeps the people that have subscribed around for the long haul, imo. They bought in to the true you, those are the ones you want to stick around.
Great post and awesome photos. The TC-1 looks like a beast, I was looking at some on eBay the other day and my jaw hit the floor at the price though, haha.
Wow, what a read, thanks for sharing this dude.
Thank you for reading, Jason!
Yes yes yes! Great piece of writing!
Thank you, Katya!

By the way, I really like your photos!
Thank you for sharing, Agus! Same here, I’m still trying to juggle but somehow substack make things enjoyable to me again!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Andy! I totally agree. At the end of the day, we should focus more on doing what makes us happy. ;)

Yes yes yes!! Whoever stays, it’s for a long term! That is really what I feel. The more happy we are, the more better the thing we produce 🙌🏻
Yeah man, TC-1 is crazy right now. It wasn’t as crazy as today when I bought it.
I was gonna see if I could find one in Tokyo but I might try to find an XA instead hah.
Can recommend you some of the shop when you are here!
